In 2010 Markers won a Gold Award from the Elderly Accommodation Counsel, for Housing for Older People, as the Best UK Retirement Housing Scheme of between 30-44 homes. It was entirely resident chosen.

Built in stages since 1978, there are 46 properties including a combination of bedsits, one and two bedroom flats, houses and bungalows.
The scheme has a number of facilities including a communal lounge, small laundry, and allotments for the more active. Markers is set in extensive landscaped grounds with allotments and a duck pond.

A wide variety of day to day activities take place including coffee mornings, charitable fundraising, table top sales and bingo.
The village of Uffculme offers a wide range of facilities including a post office, local shops, church, doctor's surgery and pub. It also has a regular bus service to both the Exeter and Taunton areas.

Both Support Advisors actively work with residents to enable good quality independent living.
