Westcountry Housing is a member of Westward Housing Group, a non-profit making and one of the largest developing housing groups in the area, with more than 6000 properties in management and a turnover in excess of £20 million. The Group is a charity providing a wide range of housing for families, single people, the elderly and those with additional support needs.
This is an exciting time to join a team of dedicated women who will develop this re-modeled and newly commissioned expanded service, working in partnership with practitioners and stakeholders across a range of related services.
The successful candidates will have experience as a practitioner of working with vulnerable, possibly traumatised, children and their families. The role will involve working directly with the children and young people within the scheme to minimise and prevent as far as possible their future development being impaired by their experiences of domestic abuse, and developing and maintaining good working relationships with partner agencies.
An understanding of child development, and domestic violence and related issues is essential, as is the ability to prepare support plans and work closely to them. An ability to assess and manage risk appropriately is of critical importance.
Experience of working with children therapeutically, particularly if this falls within the field of domestic abuse in a Supported Housing environment is essential.
