New Sites

The Latest Developments Across Devon and Cornwall

Broadclose, Bude by Tim Crocker

We are constantly pursuing new opportunities to develop sites for people in housing need.  This is a picture of Broadclose Farm in Bude which you can read about lower down this page, it won the Richard Fielden Award at the Affordable Housing Design Awards 2007.  Here is a summary of some of our current projects:

Pentillie Road, Bere Alston
This site will provide a mixture of rent and new build HomeBuy.  It is part of an exciting new development being built by Cavanna Homes in West Devon and is well on its way to completion.

New homes at Hatherleigh

Hatherleigh
Millwood Homes are developing around 110 homes in Hatherleigh and Westcountry Housing is working with this developer to provide 41 affordable homes for rent and low cost home ownership.  We have recently taken handover of some homes for new build HomeBuy in Hatherleigh and this development is proving very popular.

Bingo Hall, Tiverton
The old electric bingo hall in Newport Street, Tiverton is being replaced by some contemporary apartments for rent, right in the centre of this ancient town.  This forms part of the regeneration of the town centre which has been taking place over recent years.

Pottery Quay, Plymouth
This long awaited scheme is drawing towards the finish of the build stage and has already welcomed back many of the previous residents who were decanted to enable their homes to be rebuilt to the highest standards.  The vibrant community is also welcoming new faces into the area to join them in this bustling part of Plymouth, on the banks of the River Tamar.

Broadclose Farm, Bude
Construction on this exemplar scheme is in its final stages, having been a partnership between Westcountry Housing, Guinness Trust and Midas Homes, supported in all its endeavours by North Cornwall District Council.  This award winning scheme has transformed an area of Bude which benefits from important amenities such as the local secondary school and sports centre as well as a large supermarket.

Bilbury Street, Plymouth
This new rented opportunity benefits from a central location in the city of Plymouth and is in the final stages of review before being offered as homes.  The standard of care that we take with these small details make all the difference between providing accommodation and providing a home.

This is just a snap shot of the work that we are currently undertaking within the Investment & Procurement Department.  The new year of 2009 will see further schemes convert from aspirations to real homes for people in housing need in Devon and Cornwall.
