The Housing Support Service recognises that running your own home can often be difficult and stressful, especially if you are living on a low income, are unemployed, suffering ill-health, or going through a difficult and unsettling time. Our service is available regardless of whether you are a tenant, or living in temporary accommodation while waiting for a new home.
Support may include:
- Practical advice on setting up your home, such as finding furniture and applying for grants.
- Understanding your rights and responsibilities in relation to your housing (rent, repairs, tenancy agreements and dealing with neighbour disputes).
- Liasing with landlords or other authorities on your behalf.
- Help with managing your money, paying your bills and dealing with any debts.
- Looking for ways for you to increase your money and benefits.
- Help with forms and making benefit claims and dealing with red tape.
- Putting you in touch with other services, contacts, independent advocates, local facilities and groups etc if you need them.
